OVRCR Cellars: Chardonnay 2009

OVRCR Cellars: Chardonnay 2009

This maker seems to be a bit of a mystery, but none to worry with the appellation of Russian River Valley in their corner. This area does produce some of the better Chardonnays in California.

The nose was sweet with light honeydew, apple and citrus. The palate brought lemon, apple and honeydew melon. The finish was refreshing and light with melon and lemon notes. This is a delicious light-bodied offering that has a good palate but because it is a bit flabby (lacking acid) the structure wanders. Overall, I would recommend this wine for the asking price. Cheers!

For this salmon recipe, the secret is in the sauce. Shallot and garlic in butter, with cream, dijon mustard and dill.
