EpicStyle Cocktail Directory: Black Velvet

Black Velvet

This cocktail is said to have been created in 1861 in Britain when they were mourning the death of Prince Albert. The banding of the black Guiness layer from the less dense Champagne layer represented the black arm bands worn by mourners.

Ingredients:

1/2 can or bottle of Guiness Stout
Champagne

Directions:

Simply pour half your Guiness into a Champagne flute or beer mug. Then top your glass off with some Champagne. Do so by pouring the Champagne onto a spoon turned upside down. This helps the champagne pour smoothly into your glass without disturbing the lower Guiness layer. Cheers!

Murphy's Stout
Murphy's Stout
This is a dry stout that is much "sweeter" than it's counterparts, Guiness and Beamish. So if you've tried those others and wished they weren't so bitter, this just might fit the bill for your taste.
