Jip Jip Rocks vineyards are grown on pink-red granite, a good base to let the vines struggle and produce concentrated juices full of character. In combination with their beneficial coastal location, Jip Jip Rocks produces a bold Shiraz that's sure to please.
The nose gave major hints of the palate to follow. It was spicy-hot with pepper, raspberry and eucalyptus notes. The palate starts tart-cherry with spicy red pepper, lime, eucalyptus, plum, tart-dandelion and earthy chicken coop flavors. Yes, there was a lot going on with this Shiraz. No complaints from me though. It was like an adventure, experiencing new palate elements with every sip! The finish, surprise surprise, is long with citrus, cherry, plum and cognac heat - a warmth you will feel right down to your chest. Overall, this selection delivers major tannin, acid and flavor for an over the top experience! Cheers!
