Mark West Winery: Chardonnay 2009

Mark West Winery: Chardonnay 2009

With warm days and cool nights along the coast of central California, the grapes for this wine are growing in near perfect conditions. The result of theses good growing conditions is a wine that has rich, satisfying and full flavors.

The nose was supple with citrus, butter and lemon notes. The palate starts very buttery smooth, with guava and lemon following. The mouth feel is very smooth with no bite, even though lemon is present. The lemon element leans more to a sweet fruit feel like a Limoncello. The buttery notes continue throughout the palate. With just theses three palate elements, the structure is spot on. Not that it's ever easy to achieve good structure, but this wine does it. This is a simple and great wine that should not be missed. Cheers!

This slow-cooked feast is well worth the lenghty cooking time. The Hawaiian Guava Wine from Volcano Winery really brings the flavors together.
