Vidal-Fleury: Côtes du Rhône 2007

Vidal-Fleury: Côtes du Rhône 2007

This offering by Vidal-Fleury is a great example of a Rhône blend wine, with rich flavors and good structure.

The nose was very aromatic with raspberry, cherry, currant and a floral element like jasmine. The palate was currant, blackberry, gooseberry tart and cherry. The finish was long and rich with cherry and gooseberry notes. This medium bodied red blend displays strong acids relative to the tannins, which were quite mellow. The simple palate allows the taster to enjoy each flavor with ease, as the structure takes no rush with theses delicious elements. The tart composition of the wine is achieved with a fantastic gooseberry flavor that gives this selection it's uniqueness. As the bottle opened, the nose reveals a great musty-earth note. The palate remains similar with the introduction of more cherry up front and faint oak off the back. Cheers!
