Baron Herzog Wine Cellars: Jeunesse Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Baron Herzog Wine Cellars: Jeunesse Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

This offering is intentionally off the beaten path. It is a very young, and playful Cabernet Sauvignon that exhibits both semi-dry and sweet notes. The name "Juenesse" is French for youthful, flavorful and fun.

The nose reminded me of a Rosé, with strawberry, cherry and a major floral element. The palate was light and sweet with brandy, cherry, caramel, molasses and prune. Being a young Cab, it is very drinkable for most anyone. The finish was plum, molasses, and apricot just like dried apricot - very good. The month feel was surprisingly substantial. Yes, this is an "odd" Cabernet Sauvignon, but worth a try. For those considering a try, this offering is similar to one of the three: a soft Tawny Port, a sweet Rosé, or a Sangria minus the strong acidic citrus element. Serve semi-chilled and enjoy! Cheers!
