Wine By Joe: Vintjs Pinot Gris 2009

Wine By Joe: Vintjs Pinot Gris 2009

The Pinot Gris grape grown for this selection thrives in the cool climate of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. These excellent growing conditions produce fine wine.

The nose was pungent with pineapple and green apple. The palate was pineapple, green apple, lime and cardamom spice. The finish was very clean and light. Overall this medium-bodied Pinot is citrusy and tart. As the bottle opens, the nose mellowed greatly, with green apple, guava and pineapple notes. The palate simplifies to green apple, pineapple and lime. This is a good Pinot, with very dry characteristics, and not trying to do too much. I've tried Pinot Grigios in the $5 to $9 range with great disappointment, but this selection delivers! Cheers!
