With the perception that non-alcoholic beers are thin, with no meat on their bones, Clausthaler tries to bridge this gap. This offering has a nice golden amber-red color to it, and supplies a good range of flavors that at first look do dispel this weak beer notion.
The nose is malty and fresh cut grass. The palate was burnt marshmallows, grass, tea, malt grain, grain like graham crackers and sawdust. Overall, it's a sweet one with a strange tea element that caught me by surprise. This offering isn't bad, but isn't the best thing I've tried. For a nearly non-alcoholic brew, it's good though. The mouth feel is good and thick with nice carbonation that hangs around for a long time. Serve this beverage at a temperature of 43˚ - 47˚F. Cheers!
