Concannon Vineyard: Petite Sirah 2007

Concannon Vineyard: Petite Sirah 2007

Concannon's goal of creating world-class Bordeaux and Rhône-style wines is evident in every facet of this vineyard, from their landmark winery to their award-winning wines, including America's First Petite Sirah.

The nose was of fruity as expected with a wonderful musty element. It was of raspberry, ash and musty egg like a hen coop, a real scent of the country. The palate was tangy cranberry, black cherry, raspberry and orange rind. This fruity wine is bold and dry with good tannins. The mouth feel was thick and substantial. The finish was warm and smooth with cherry notes. As the bottle opened, the palate opened up with good structure, and the palate remains the same with the exception of the end orange rind note mellowing perfectly. Cheers!
