Château Roudier: Bordeaux 2005

Château Roudier: Bordeaux 2005

This Bordeaux is a blend of 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This combination gives this wine a distinct front of fruit with leathery undertones.

The nose was of cherry, vanilla, chocolate and musty earth. The palate was spicy with currant and a tart cherry followed by leather and a woody lavender. The finish was tangy with tart cherry and oak. Right out of the bottle this wine displays an abrupt structure with medium body and high alcohol content. But like any wine with a good five years on it, decanting helps mellow the abrupt structure, giving the palate a smooth flow. Cheers!
