Chimay Grand Réserve 2009

Beer was originally create by monks to help ease the hunger pains of fasting. Now that was a stroke of genius.

This particular brew is port-like in character. The scent was like dried flowers, fresh sawdust and a subtle nutmeg. The palate was of thyme, pepper and clove with a nutmeg finish. The overall impression is a medium sweet beer with lots of spice and port-like undertones of molasses. Serve this beverage at a temperature of 60 - 65˚F. Cheers!
