Napa River Winery: Chardonnay 2008

Napa River Winery: Chardonnay 2008

This offering from Napa River has the classic characteristics of Chardonnays while leaning towards the buttery side.

The nose was pear and lemon. The palate was of apple, pear, butter, oak and lemon. The finish was buttery soft and lingering with ever so subtle lemon and apple notes in the distant background. Day two tasting brought a more aromatic nose. The palate moved to a tart apple note up front with really buttery overtones throughout. Overall, this wine has good balance, very smooth. It seems as though Napa River moves away from the crowd of Chardonnays in that the wine isn't real crisp like others, but rather smooth, playing up the buttery element to its fullest. Cheers!
