Pure Love Wines: Layer Cake Shiraz 2008

Pure Love Wines: Layer Cake Shiraz 2008

Their name, Layer Cake, came from the idea that the soil that the vines for this wine grew in were like a layer cake. They produce wines that are rich, fruity, chocolatey with a touch of spice.

The nose was a strange combination of spice and a musty egg. The palate was amazing right out. It was raspberry, mocha, vanilla, tangerine and cognac spice. This is a bold, full-bodied wine: high alcohol showing with major legs, rich and deep in flavors! The finish was long with vanilla and oak. As the bottle opened, the nose still resembled musty egg, maybe like a chicken coop, and raspberry. The palate improved as the overall drink was smoother and richer still. The palate had raspberry, cherry, tart mocha, chocolate, vanilla and white pepper. the pepper element is very nice, as it contrasted the fruit and chocolate flavors. Decant this selection and you will enjoy it. Cheers!
