Black Mountain Vineyard: Fat Cat Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Black Mountain Vineyard: Fat Cat Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

This offering by Black Mountain Vineyard is appropriately named "Fat Cat", for it is a big, fat flavored wine with a high alcohol content.

The nose was filled with vibrant cherry and eucalyptus oil scents. The palate was black cherry, currant, chocolate and anise. And right out of the bottle, the initial tastes are dominated by a high alcohol presence. The finish was quite smooth, with vanilla and cherry notes. As the bottle opens, the nose changed to black cherry, eucalyptus and lemon vest - very nice. The palate remained similar, with an additional plum flavor showing. The finish definitely flows better after opening, and moved to vanilla and cranberry. Overall this bottle is a great value, and worth a try. Cheers!
