Jepson Vineyards: Syrah 2007

Jepson Vineyards: Syrah 2007

Jepson Vineyards, now formally named Jaxon Keys Winery & Distillery has created a very flavorful offering with this 2007 Syrah.

The nose was raspberry, pepper and vanilla - giving hints of flavors to come. The palate was of blackberry, raspberry and a indiscernible spice note. This is a very smooth drink right out of the bottle, unlike most other Syrahs. The finish was medium to light, with a distinctive raspberry note. Once the bottle opened up a bit, the nose moved to raspberry, vanilla and tangerine - the indiscernible spice note from earlier. The palate, wow, what a difference. the blackberry and pepper became much stronger in flavor with a hint of vanilla. The finish moved to blackberry and vanilla. If you do try this wine, my absolute recommendation is to decant this wine for 15 to 20 minutes before enjoying. Cheers!
