Gascón: Malbec 2008

Gascón: Malbec 2008

Hailing from the high altitude region of Mendoza, in Argentina, this Malbec is typically rich in flavor while maintaining a smooth overall feel. And this selection is thankfully no different.

The nose comes strong of blueberry and subtle oak. The first taste drops rich flavors of blueberry, blackberry, cherry, subtle oak and spice. The finish is a fantastic combination of sweet molasses followed by sweet blueberry. Usually the initial spice note in the palate mellows greatly as the bottle opens up, but this Malbec retains quite a bit of the spice note, helping it to balance out the sweet fruity blueberry, blackberry and cherry flavors. The finish of the aerated wine goes to molasses, blueberry, and a hint of mocha. This bottle is worth the money, enjoy. Cheers!
