Castoro Cellars: Viognier 2007

Castoro Cellars: Viognier 2007

This Viognier from Castoro Cellars is one of their reserves, meaning that when a certain lot, or year of grapes that are especially good, they will set aside a certain amount of this lot and bottle it in limited quantities. This ensures quality and a specialness to this wine - it is a good purchase at this level alone.

The nose was apple, citrus and pineapple. The first sips bring a slightly tart-hot sense upfront. Then flavors of apple, yellow grapefruit push to the forefront with a hint of toasty oak. The finish was of sweet apples and floral notes. My overall impression was a clean, crisp dry wine that satisfys with a medium body that will stand with any good butter or cream sauce that you might pair it with. Cheers!
