Castoro Cellars: Syrah 2006

Castoro Cellars: Syrah 2006

This Syrah from the Paso Robles area is a rich and overall smooth tasting experience. And for a big Syrah, sometimes this isn't easily achieved with so much flavor(s) going on. But Castoro does the balancing act with a nice touch of acid and tannins.

Right from the bottle to glass, cherry, mustiness, blackberry and vanilla aromas burst out. The palate starts cherry, then rolls to a blackberry-blueberry, and ends with smoky oak and a slight hint of vanilla. The finish is long lasting and delicious with black cherry and oak as it's elements. This one you will enjoy. If you really enjoy pairing food with your wine, this one will go very well with Morel mushrooms that are sautéed in butter and a touch of this wine. Cheers!
