Ravenswood: Vintners Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Ravenswood: Vintners Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Deep, bold and flavorful describe this Cabernet Sauvignon which can go stride for stride with other cabs in the $15 to $30 range. Yes, this wine is a good value, but it doesn't compromise on the important factors of wine making with it's good balance and smooth finish.

The nose is of rich red ripe fruit, berry and cherry. The palate is slightly spicy with the first pour, with current, cherry and earthy tones - to the tobacco side. Most surprising for a bottle at this price range was how smooth it is. As the bottle opens, the you get a very well balance, soft wine, but not timid. The finish is cherry with tobacco-earthy, medium in length. It's one to put as an everyday drinker with those of you who enjoy strong cheeses and beef. Cheers!
