Santa Margherita: Pinot Grigio 2007

Santa Margherita: Pinot Grigio 2007

This white wine has been made from an innovative technique since 1961, where the skins are separated from the must in the pressing. This creates a bright yellow wine rather than the typical rust colored version found in Italy for the Pinot Grigio grape, which is actually pink. As for this offering, it is a fairly consistent wine from year to year - bringing light, crisp refreshment in a focused palate.

The nose is of fresh sliced pears and golden delicious apples - and it is fairly intense on first opening. The palate is tangy, spicy apple and pear. As the bottle opens, the flavors focus to apple, pear with a spicy tangyness that is light, crisp and refreshing. A perfect wine for a summer afternoon. Cheers!
