Louis M. Martini: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County 2006

Louis M. Martini, located in Napa Valley, created this Cabernet Sauvignon from varietals of Sonoma County. This smooth drinking wine is well balanced with many layers of flavor.

The nose swirled around from blackberry to lemon to a musty-oak. The palate features strong tannins with blackberry and vanilla notes accompanied by spicy and vanilla flavors. As the bottle opens, the layers really come out. The beginning of the palate is blackberry and currant. Then, a spicy note to finish surprised me: it was was like a combination of a creamy nutmeg and black pepper. Delicious, cheers!
