Epicuro: Nero d'Avola 2007

Epicuro: Nero d'Avola 2007

For Italy, the Nero d'Avola is their most important variety of grape. This grape is comparable to a Syrah - making a big red wine. Being a single grape wine, "the black grape of Avola", this Epicuro wine is quite focused, non-complex, but the flavors and texture that are delivered are pleasing.

So let's get right to it. The nose revealed red berries, with light, sweet red fruit, finishing with a subtle black pepper scent. The palate brought a smooth blackberry and cherry with a finish of black pepper. After the first sips, it is evident that this will be a smooth, medium-finish wine with high alcohol content. The combination makes for a big wine.

After opening up a bit, the nose was of red fruit with a earthy touch, very nice. The palate was of sweet cherry and spicy pepper. The tannins mellowed a bit with a soft smooth finish with generous flavor. Cheers!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin
Marinated Pork Tenderloin
Like Filet mignon, this is a tender item. With marination and slow cooking, you'll find yourself cutting into the tenderloin and thinking it was butter. Delicious. And on top of that, you'll see it is one of the the leanest meats around. Enjoy!
