Clos du Val: Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

This Napa Valley Cabernet is a great example of a wine that offers many layers of flavor. Several tasters can experience unique flavors from the same bottle. As well, each taster can have a different palate set from others enjoying the same wine. This is a good wine to share with others and then compare your palate differences and similarities.

The nose was of dark fruit, toasted oak and slightly grassy, a very rich aroma. The palate was of black current, strawberry and coffee. Even with all these flavors going on, it was a well balanced wine at the early stages with firm tannins and good acid helping. The finish is long and delicious. To my palate, the finish was sweet like a combination of watermelon, strawberry and black current. As the bottle opens, the nose was like fresh buttered toast. This wine is a treat. Cheers!
