Stonehedge Winery: Reserve Napa Valley Merlot 2005

Stonehedge Winery: Reserve Napa Valley Merlot 2005

This Merlot is powerful. It packs layers of flavors into a long finishing wine that won't leave you wondering if Merlots can stand up to Cabernet Sauvignons.

This Stonhedge Reserve has a nose of blackberry and chocolate. Typically Merlots are fruit forward and dominated, but the first sips of this wine reveal many layers of flavors - some which are not fruity, but very interesting. The discernable flavors to my palate were of cherry, tobacco with a strawberry final hint. The makers also say plum and berry are part of the palate, and those were in there somewhere among all the layers - what a treat. Another great element to mention was the nose after a sip, it reminded me of new leather, rich and penetrating. This wine is a strong, complex offering not to be missed. Cheers!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin
Marinated Pork Tenderloin
Like Filet mignon, this is a tender item. With marination and slow cooking, you'll find yourself cutting into the tenderloin and thinking it was butter. Delicious. And on top of that, you'll see it is one of the the leanest meats around. Enjoy!
