Château Jacques Blanc: Bordeaux 2006

Château Jacques Blanc: Bordeaux 2006

This Château Jacques Blanc offering is Merlot dominant which gives it a fruit forward character, but there is a surprise or two in this vintage as well.

The nose is of berries, oak and even a musty hit in the background. The palate, to start is berries, fruit and to me, wet wood. Don't let the wet wood description discourage you, it is a great balancer to the fairly sweet fruit front of this wine. This wine also carries strong tannins. As it opens, the nose becomes more fruity - less musty. The palate moves to fruit first, wet wood and then finishes with a hint of grassy, like the sent in the air of a newly dewed meadow. At this point the wine is quite earthy and delicious. Cheers!
