Cuvée Michel Léon: Gewurztraminer 2007

Cuvée Michel Léon: Gewurztraminer 2007

The Alsace region of France is known worldwide for its Gewurztraminer, or at least what they do with these grapes to make one of the most floral, aromatic wines you'll ever have.

The nose is of soft flowers. It reminded me of wild roses. The first sips hit right on the tip of the tongue with sweet flower then spice. That being said, the effect is a soft spice pucker running into a creamy medium-long finish which is quite satisfying. After the glass of wine opens a bit, the combination of spice and sweet are well balanced. There are many spice notes, almost too difficult to discern any one, but one that my palette caught can only be described as sweet cardamom - truly unique and aromatic. For the price, this is a sure hit, perfect for summer sipping or with any spicy Indian or Thai foods. Cheers!
