Penfolds, Koonunga Hill: Shiraz Cabernet 2007

Penfolds, Koonunga Hill: Shiraz Cabernet 2007

The great quality of this wine is the bold flavors of the Shiraz grape in combination with good structure provided by the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. For the price point, it is worth a try.

The nose is red fruit and dark berry followed by a smoky finish. True to Shiraz wines, this tasting starts out with a pucker of rich berry, and continues with chocolate and toasty oak notes to finish. The tannins are medium to strong with an overall good structure. With this combination of strong flavor, tannins and structure, this Penfolds offering is big without being too bold.
