Clos du Bois: Chardonnay 2006

Clos du Bois: Chardonnay 2006

This chardonnay has a vibrant straw yellow hue as it flows into the glass. The first whiffs I get are of citrus and apple. It is a great prelude to the flavors to come.

The flavor comes spicy at first to my palette, then apple. This Chardonnay has a medium finish, with notes lingering of pear and subtle oak. As the glass opens up, and slightly warms, it is like Granny Smith and Mr. Bartlett made a love child: crisp, vibrant flavors of a green apple and a pear in equal amounts quench your sense of taste. The tangy element mellows, but is still there - and that is good. I paired this wine with a simple sautéed shrimp, with butter and garlic sauce over a bed of white rice - perfect. The wine was easily able to stand up with the garlic. Cheers!
