Chateau Grand Traverse

Chateau Grand Traverse

Established in 1974, Chateau Grand Traverse has seen many successful vintage years. In the last year alone their wines have been awarded more than 100 medals in national and international competitions.

Chateau Grand Traverse Winery was founded by Edward O’Keefe, Jr. in 1974. The winery continues to be family owned and operated and Ed’s two sons, Ed III and Sean, now handle the daily operations. Chateau Grand Traverse is the oldest and one of the largest wineries in Northern Michigan. Our 100% European vinifera vineyards marked the first commercial planting of these premium grape varieties in the State of Michigan. The moderating effects of the deep waters of Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay are vital to the grape quality and success. Combining over three decades of experience, a family commitment to excellence, and the dedication of a great winery staff, we have distinguished Chateau Grand Traverse as a producer of exceptional wines.

We have between 25 and 30 wines available at most times. We have various Rieslings, Chardonnays, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Gamay and various blends. We also produce a number of cherry wines made from the abundant local cherry crop.

We have a large tasting room at the main winery on Old Mission Peninsula and two smaller tasting rooms in Williamsburg and Onekama, Michigan. We offer samples of between 25 and 30 wines
