Wine decanting allows you to experience all of the aromas and flavors your wine has to offer. When first opening and drinking a bottle, your wine will be "tight". It needs to open up, and that is accomplished by introducing oxygen to the wine. Today you can either use decanters or aerators to open wine up. Traditionally, decanting was the preferred method. The decanter has a wide base that allows more wine surface area to be exposed to air. Decanting usually takes 15 minutes for proper usage. More recently, aerators have been introduced as a quicker method of "decanting" wine. With aerators, you simple pour your wine through the device right into your glass and you're ready to drink. Aerators rapidly introduce air to your wine, allowing you to drink basically instantly, instead of having to wait 15 minutes. We have a good selection of aerators including Vinturi, Vin-Aire and MENU brands. In the end, it's a matter of how much time you have. If you have time, decant with a decanter. If time is short, use an aerator. Either way, we have them here.
