Chateau Ste. Michelles' affordable Chardonnay is a treat, well suited for food pairing. This wine doesn't try to do too much, and so makes a refreshing wine that is able to be paired with many foods. This is a semi-dry Chardonnay with smooth and subtle characteristics.
The grapes for this selection were picked at a near ideal range of ripeness. As a result, the blend is very well balanced with a great deal of complexity. The fruit forward wine is barrel fermented (French, Hungarian and American oak) for 8 months.
Light scent of nuts, lemon citrus follows. Creamy smooth flavors coat the tongue with good acidity. This wine stays around after the delicious creamy flavors fade. Hints of butterscotch and notes of tropical fruit pervade this wine adding to its long lingering finish.
This Chardonnay begins with barrel fermenting our intensely flavored Carneros grapes in French oak. After resting on the lees to develop a hint of yeast character, it is bottle aged to maturity. With hints of apples, pears, and butterscotch our Chardonnay is creamy with a nice lingering finish, and pairs nicely with roasted poultry, cracked crab, and cream based pasta dishes.
