The rolling hills of First Colony’s eight-acre vineyard have been planted with such varietals as Petit Verdot, Tannat, Chardonnay, and more, and the winery uses only locally produced fruit in its sweet wines. First Colony’s popular Meritage Blend and new Sauvignon Blanc wines illustrate the winery’s range, which also extends to a traditional Port dessert wine, the 1607 Ediciao Limitada.

Those who have visited First Colony Winery are surely familiar with the giant tasting room. Tasting and Event Rooms
Winter guests to Haight-Brown Vineyard are immediately drawn to the warmth and personality of the main tasting room. Hardwood floors, back-to-back stone fireplaces, and a custom wine bar help set the tone of the wine bar, while the personable and knowledgeable staff brings the relaxing atmosphere of Connecticut’s oldest winery to life. The Vine Room, a popular option for private rentals, has become a favorite among visitors. The wooden wine bar and furniture set a tranquil tone in this room, and the local art and photography lining the walls makes the experience here even more unique and enjoyable. Private parties are typically limited to 25 guests or less in this space.

A new edition to the winery, the Cask Room, has also been completed and is now open for rental! Lounge in the casual leather ottomans and take in your own view of Haight-Brown’s wine cellar though double glass doors. The Cask Room holds up to 30 guests.

Nestled between the shore of Lake Erie and the highlands of the Allegheny Mountains, Arrowhead Wine Cellars sits in a bed of fertile soil that has been revered for its quality since first harvested by Native American settlers many years ago. In fact, it was the artifacts that these Native Americans left behind, including the many age-old flint arrowheads still found amongst the farm and vineyard, which inspired the name of the winery. Owner Kathy Mobilia explains, “We noticed how a simple thing like a piece of flint could last for generations after it had been handcrafted into an arrowhead, and we wanted to do the same thing with our grapes.” She continues, “We want to create wine that will last.”

And Mobilia’s commitment to achieving such longevity in the form of Arrowhead’s warm, inviting, and innovative estate winery has not gone unnoticed since the winery opened its doors in 1998; many of Arrowhead’s 20-plus wines have received honors and awards from international wine competitions including the Finger Lakes and Florida State International Wine Competitions, among others. But Arrowhead’s prowess is not limited to just wine – in fact, the farm first became successful growing fruits other than grapes including cherries, peaches and apples.
